From a letter dated December 6, 1998 from Sam Cox: “Hunting and fishing were part of my family’s heritage. I began experimenting, first making duck calls modeled after one made by the originator for my great-grandfather. Then I expanded into making knives. Before long, the duck call and duck knife set was born, which I copyrighted in 1984. By 1989 I realized that I could not split my time between knives and calls, and making knives became my sole focus of attention. Creating cutlery that is useful and yet beautiful became a passion.”
